When considering a fire sprinkler retrofit for your facility, know that there's a lot of stuff to keep in mind. One design engineer has seen systems that drain into a slop sink or a floor drain, which will not work. He said it's a case of the contactor thinking "Well, you didn’t tell me I couldn't." An example of a safe place to drain could be a field outside, if you have that luxury. Just make sure you're not compromising any paths of egress.
