WDMA Announces Formation of National Architectural Door Council
WASHINGTON -- The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) today announced that it was establishing a new council, the WDMA National Architectural Door Council™ (NADC), to represent the interests of the leading manufacturers of architectural door manufacturers and their suppliers. Operating under the WDMA umbrella, the NADC will be responsible for creating programs and services to serve this market segment and provide networking and education opportunities for its members.
"The architectural wood door industry is a unique subset of the overall window and door industry with distinct issues which WDMA recognizes can best be addressed by the formation of the council," said Ann Duebner, WDMA Vice Chair and vice president of sales and marketing for Eggers Industries in Two Rivers, Wis. "I'm excited by the possibilities and look forward to Eggers participation in the council."
The NADC will be responsible for developing and maintaining the primary industry standards for architectural wood doors and representing the industry before code and regulatory bodies, standards-setting organizations, policymakers and the media. The NADC will be promoting the use of the recently updated WDMA architectural door standards to architects, specifiers and contractors through information exchange, education and media awareness.
"WDMA has been the main voice and effective advocate for the architectural door industry for years and now the NADC will give us the opportunity to take that to the next level, which is all the more important given the economic climate we're all facing," said Steve Sisson, WDMA Immediate Past Chair and vice president/general manager of Karona, Inc. in Grand Rapids, Mich.
One of the first orders of business for the NADC will be launching an online continuing education program on the updated architectural door standards for architects in the coming weeks. More information on the program will be announced shortly. For additional information on the NADC, visit www.wdma.com/nadc or send an email to nadc@wdma.com.
