Product Release: PPG Architectural Coatings

The new water-borne (WB) technology combines the technical advantages of alkyd resins with the environmental, health and safety benefits of latex paint.  This technology enables the alkyd resin to be suspended in water, eliminating the need for high VOC solvents.  The result provides product performance characteristics of traditional alkyds such as smooth film hardness and abrasion resistance, but with lower odor, lower VOCs* and easy clean-up associated with latex products.

Key Product Features (Manor Hall®, Glyptex® and Speedhide®):
·         New product formulation provides quality and performance equivalencies of existing brand alkyds (abrasion and moisture resistance; adhesion; durability; flow and leveling; and hardness), but with improvements in dry time and gloss-retention, and ease of clean-up (soap and water), low odor and low VOC (< 50 g/L VOC*) inherent in latex products.
·         LEED credits
·         Available in four bases to achieve any of the 1890 colors from the Voice of Color® palette
·         Can be used on a variety of substrates and projects including:
o    Drywall
o    Furniture and Shelving
o    Masonry
o    Metal
o    Plaster
o    Wallpaper
o    Wood & Trim Moldings

·         Manor Hall and Glyptex are offered in satin and gloss sheens
·         Speedhide WB alkyd meets the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) low-emitting materials criteria section 01350 and is offered in satin, semi-gloss and gloss
