Product Release: Swegon PARAGON Comfort Modules
EDINA, Minn. - Comfort modules are a recent extension of chilled beam technology, increasingly applied in buildings to save energy while providing comfort and ventilation. Swegon’s new PARAGON low-profile comfort module has both compact dimensions and high capacity. PARAGON has been developed to heat, cool and ventilate while ensuring a comfortable, energy-efficient indoor climate.
As with other chilled beams, PARAGON recirculates and treats room air then mixes it with fresh outside air ducted from an air handling unit. The duct is smaller than that required of traditional air-conditioning systems, requiring less space above the ceiling. PARAGON operates on the pressure of the air in the duct, so no fans or motors are required in the unit, cutting the cost of maintenance by at least one-half. Furthermore, PARAGON is designed to operate in an air system that controls room humidity below dewpoint, improving comfort and cleanliness by eliminating the need for drain pans.
PARAGON is available in two versions, both discharging air horizontally into the room. The basic model is applied in hotel and hospital rooms, recirculating air via slots on the underside of the unit. The Wall model is designed mainly for offices, recirculating air through the bottom section of the discharge grille. The direction of the discharged air can be adjusted from the room, both vertically and horizontally, and Swegon's special ADC system – standard on all PARAGON units - ensures there are absolutely no drafts.
The technology used in PARAGON unit ventilates, cools and heats effectively while requiring only low pressure and airflow levels from the air handler. PARAGON is suitable for airflows of 33-118 cfm and pressures of 0.20-0.80 inches of water, while providing cooling capacity up to 6500 Btuh and heating capacity up to 7100 Btuh.
PARAGON has been quickly adopted in the hospitality and commercial building sectors. Recently, PARAGON units were installed at Hotel Rezidor in Oslo, Norway and Mercedes Benz Bank in Berlin, Germany.
