Humanscale: Company Enters Architectural Lighting with Acquisition of Vessel

New York City — Humanscale recently announced that it has acquired Vessel, an architectural lighting solution from celebrated designer Todd Bracher.

Vessel is a clear cylindrical light made of the highest quality quartz crystal, providing beautiful, glare-free light in a simple, refined form.

Architectural lighting is a new category for Humanscale, although the company has long been a provider in task lighting for individual workstations.

"Vessel aligns to the principles of performance and quality that are of significant importance to Humanscale and to myself," Bracher said. "It does not represent a stylistic approach to lighting, but a scientific one, with a focus on physics and optical engineering. With the use of engineered optics, the light source is hidden, resulting in a magical throw of light from an unseen source.

"Vessel was born from challenging ideas around light quality and working to achieve the highest possible quality of light. From that premise, the light was created based on complex optical physics, and it offers perfect diffusion, is well balanced, has a high color rendering, and is totally glare-free. Thus, the true beauty of Vessel lies not only in its form, but in the quality of light it produces."

Easily installed as a single pendant or by the hundreds in large chandelier applications, Vessel provides an elegant solution for installations far beyond the corporate environment. Featuring both pendant and sconce options, Vessel is well suited for hospitality and residential settings. The light throw is optimal for dining tables in homes and restaurants and is perfectly calibrated to eliminate residual LED glare — casting tables, bars, lobbies, and walls in a soft circle of uniform white light. Vessel is one of the most awarded lighting products in recent years, winning eight design awards including Best of NeoCon Gold.
