Uptime Institute Launches 2015 Brill Awards Program
New York City — Sept. 24, 2014 — Uptime Institute has issued a Call for Entries for the 2015 Brill Awards for Efficient IT. The awards will recognize IT efficiency in six categories, across four global regions: North America, EMEA, Latin America, and APAC. Entry forms may be downloaded from the institute’s website.
The Brill Awards, established in 2014, honor the memory of Uptime Institute’s founder Ken Brill by recognizing IT efficiency in the broadest sense of the word -- efficiency of capital deployment, technology, design, operations, and overall management. The awards showcase companies and technologies that improve the industry’s ability to sustainably deliver IT services to the end user.
In its first year, the awards attracted 100 worthy entrants from 19 countries. More than 90 industry professionals evaluated project submissions from leading enterprises around the world, choosing the projects they thought best exhibited efficiency in data center and IT operations.
In 2014, Uptime Institute granted 15 regional Brill Awards, as well as three Global Leadership Awards. Brill Award winners last year included Morgan Stanley, Kaiser Permanente, Telefonica, Taiwan Mobile, and Fidelity Investments.
“Ken Brill believed that sharing information about innovation and best practices in IT would ultimately benefit not only the industry but also society in general,” said Kevin Heslin, Uptime Institute’s senior editor and longstanding data center industry observer, who will oversee the awards process. “I think the Brill Awards will honor Ken’s legacy by attracting more enterprises to share their ideas, and also by disseminating information about exciting innovation in the industry around the world.”
Categories will be judged by in-region experts and global authorities with local expertise. Judges will be drawn from the end user, vendor, and consulting communities so that the panel includes a wide variety of perspectives.
The categories are:
· Global leadership
· IT systems efficiency
· Data center facilities management
· Data center design
· Operational data center upgrade
· Product solutions
Winners will be recognized at a VIP dinner to be held at Uptime Institute Symposium 2015. In addition, winners will be invited, at the institute’s discretion, to present at premiere events, including Uptime Institute Network meetings, regional summits, and the Uptime Institute Symposium. Winners may also be invited to publish their projects in The Uptime Institute Journal.
The deadline for submitting a project to the program is Nov. 14, 2014.
