Introduction of LEED Healthcare Committee hosted by the USGBC - Illinois Chapter!

Program Description:

USGBC-Illinois Chapter and the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council are forming a LEED Healthcare Committee that will be a collaboration between both organizations.

MCHC was founded in 1935 as a membership and service association comprised of more than 153 hospitals and health care organizations working together to improve the delivery of health care services in the Chicago area. Both organizations are regional and serve membership throughout the state of Illinois, while focusing predominantly in Chicago and the collar counties. To that end, we feel that there is a mutual benefit to the creation of such a committee to further the USGBC’s agenda of promoting a transformation to the built environment that entails social responsible, economically sound and environmentally friendly design, constructions and operations of buildings.

The goals of the USGBC and MCHC LEED for Healthcare Committee are:

    * Collaborate on education programs  that support LEED for Health Care and LEED for Existing Building O+M

    * Partner on awareness and bring advocacy to initiatives on greening health care practices

    * Join forces on efforts to promote sustainable practices within health care

    * Engage the health care industry by recognizing their existing accomplishments

    * Create networking opportunities for healthcare professionals and partners to share best practices
