Stuart Dean Restores Guest Rooms at Historic Ritz-Carlton, South Beach

New York City – Stuart Dean, an international provider of renowned architectural restoration services, has completed the restoration of carrera marble at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach in Miami, Florida. The restoration work at the luxury hotel designed by renowned architect Morris Lapidus included honing, polishing and re-grouting marble flooring, walls, vanities and thresholds in the hotel’s 411 guest bathrooms.

“The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach is a full-scale renovation of the South Beach Miami hotel designed by Lapidus, who set the standard for the 1950s beach resort style,” said Greg Schall, director of Stuart Dean’s Hotel Division. “We treat every project with the utmost importance, but there’s something special about knowing that your work is not only improving the guest experience but restoring an important part of history.”

Stuart Dean repairs damage to architectural assets and restores surfaces at centuries-old buildings and newly constructed facilities with minimal interruption to business. The company’s advanced processes and products restore natural stone and other architectural appointments and protect surfaces from staining and deterioration caused by environmental contamination and everyday use.  Stuart Dean’s expertise includes metal refinishing; stone polishing, cleaning and protection; wood refinishing; glass restoration; innovative and sustainable grouts and flooring solutions; and curtain wall and facade restoration.

The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach lies on Miami’s most famous beach and is located steps from Ocean Drive and Lincoln Road, a 10-block pedestrian esplanade that features shopping, dining and nightlife in the famous South Beach mode. Lapidus designed the hotel in 1953 during the height of his work in the Neo-baroque Miami Modern style that he is credited with creating. Beyond visual style, the architect’s signature curving walls functioned to catch prevailing ocean breezes in the era before central air-conditioning.
