SimplexGrinnell and NFSA Join Together to Co-Sponsor Life-Safety Education Seminars

Series for AHJs to Hit 10 Major Cities in the United States and Canada

Westminster, Mass. -- SimplexGrinnell, a Tyco International company and longtime leader in fire and life safety, is teaming up with the National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA) to co-sponsor a series of life-safety education seminars addressing inspection, testing and maintenance requirements for fire sprinkler systems.

The one-day seminars are targeted to Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) and will be conducted over the next six months in 10 major cities across the U.S. and Canada.

The subject matter covers all aspects of the administrative and corrective chapters of NFPA 25: Standard for the Inspection, Testing and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems. The goal is to provide AHJs with insight and guidance on developing and administering effective NFPA 25 enforcement programs.

Presented by NFSA staff members, these interactive seminars – Inspection, Testing & Maintenance for the AHJ – are designed to offer practical learning to attendees:

·         In-depth look at the codes, standards and other documents used during the inspection and testing process

·         Overview of the appropriate sections of NFPA 25 that apply to administrative and enforcement requirements for system inspection, testing and maintenance

·         Explanation of key terms used in the enforcement of NFPA 25 as well as the role and responsibilities of building owners and their designated representatives

·         Instruction to help recognize the difference between internal inspections and obstruction investigations, the various steps in impairment procedures for systems

·         Review of fire sprinkler system deficiencies and why they need to be corrected

In collaborating with NFSA on this educational seminar series, SimplexGrinnell is furthering its commitment to leadership in the fire sprinkler industry and across the company’s full life-safety portfolio. “SimplexGrinnell is proud to team up with NFSA in sponsoring this focused training,” said Dave Baer, Vice President, Marketing.  “We work side by side with AHJs every day to help customers comply with applicable codes and standards. By enhancing the understanding and enforcement of NFPA 25, we are helping to advance the critical role that fire sprinklers play in protecting life and property.”

Upcoming seminars are scheduled for February 28 in Charleston, South Carolina; March 1 in Raleigh, North Carolina; and March 13 in Louisville, Kentucky. Registration for all the seminars remains open.  For a schedule of upcoming classes, please visit www.simplexgrinnell.com  and click on Events, located at the top of the page, where you will find information on how to register as well as a full course outline.
