Phigenics Launches Value Added Reseller Program For Patented Legionella Testing Technology
Technology Eliminates Testing Inaccuracies Due To Sample Holding Time
NAPERVILLE, Ill. /PRNewswire/ -- Phigenics LLC, the water services company who is revolutionizing water management with smart analytics software and innovative biological hazard analyses, announced today that it is expanding access to its patented Legionella testing technology to the global water treatment industry. Qualified water treatment providers, consultants, equipment suppliers and analytical laboratories are invited to participate as members of a Value Added Reseller (VAR) program. A web seminar will be held on June 28 at 11am CST to provide an overview. To register, go to: www.phigenics.com/VAR.
"Serious problems can occur when Legionella test results are inaccurate," said Ashton McCombs, President and CEO of Phigenics. "We have eliminated the problem of Legionella bacteria amplification or decline in water samples, by eliminating the need to ship water samples altogether. By making this more accurate testing technology broadly available, we expect to reduce unnecessary and costly remediations, and more importantly, reduce cases of Legionellosis."
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, each year, between 8,000 and 18,000 people are hospitalized with Legionnaires' disease in the U.S. and death can occur in up to 5% to 30% of cases. The number of annual cases in Europe is estimated by the World Health Organization at around 10,000 and the total global number of cases is not currently known.
The Phigenics Validation Test (PVT) incorporates a patented TimeZero test method that inoculates Legionella bacteria immediately on-site using a dip slide format. This produces more accurate results because it eliminates the need to ship water samples to a lab which has been proven to correlate to significant testing inaccuracies. (see "Inaccuracy in Legionella Tests of Building Water Systems Due to Sample Holding Time"). This patented test method also increases the speed in which results can be provided to within two to three days after receipt in the lab versus ten to fourteen days which is normal for the Legionella ISO 11731 spread plate method.
The PVT includes quantitative determination of viable counts of Legionella bacteria and Total Heterotrophic Aerobic Bacteria. Other optional diagnostic testing services include the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method and the ISO 11731 spread plate method. All results are immediately posted and archived in an on-line customer web-portal which is accessible from any internet connected device with a web-browser.
Phigenics Analytical Services Laboratories (PASL) are certified as proficient in the Environmental Legionella Isolation Techniques Evaluation (ELITE) program administered by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). PASL has passed every proficiency test using the TimeZero test method and the ISO 11731 spread plate method since the beginning of the program with a score of 100% correct.
