Otis Elevator: Company to Supply People-Moving Products for McCormick Place
Jupiter, Fla. — Dec. 1, 2015 — Otis Elevator has entered into a multimillion-dollar agreement with Prairie District3 Partners, a joint venture led by Clark Construction Group, to supply elevator and escalator units for Chicago’s McCormick Place convention facility campus, one of the city’s key destinations. Otis is a unit of United Technologies Corp.
As part of this expansion, Otis will provide 39 units for the new event center and headquarters hotel. This includes 13 Skyrise elevators, 14 Gen2 elevators, and 12 energy-efficient, environmentally responsible NCE escalators.
The highly anticipated project features a 10,500-seat multipurpose arena and a 40-story flagship hotel, which will operate as a Marriott Marquis. The venture also includes renovating the historic American Book Co. building and constructing pedestrian bridges, which will connect the hotel with the event center and other campus attractions.
“We are excited to have been chosen to supply our state-of-the-art elevators and escalators for this expansion,” said Bryan Clairmont, regional vice president, Midwest region, Otis Americas. “Clark Construction Group and Otis share a commitment to improving the communities where we live and work through projects across the country. Our goal is for every visitor who travels through McCormick Place to have a superior passenger experience.”
Tim Lamson, project executive with Prairie District3 Partners, added, “The McCormick Place campus is one of the largest convention facilities in North America. With this expansion, we look forward to delivering a successful project for our client, the end users, and the local community.”
Prairie District3 Partners is designing and building the McCormick Place project. On-site work has begun on the campus, and a substantial amount of the project is scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2017.
