LAUFEN's Palomba Bathtub Proves To Be Best of Year
Sensuous Solid Surface Tub Wins Interior Design’s Best of Year Award (BoY) 2012
NEW YORK – LAUFEN, the Swiss innovator of the bathroom as a living space, proved that their Palomba Collection Solid Surface tub was both an industry and judges favorite with their win of Interior Design’s Best of Year (BoY) award 2012. The awards, which honor the best projects and products of 2012 were presented at a ceremony hosted by Cindy Allen, Editor in Chief, and Mark Strauss, President and Publisher of Interior Design magazine. LAUFEN’s Palomba tub won in the Bath Fixtures category against a field of four other products.
The judges recognized the Palomba tubs organic and sensuous shape, which is in keeping with the rest of the Palomba Collection. Designed in collaboration with Roberto Palomba, the freestanding bathtub is the leading protagonist in LAUFEN’s Palomba Collection 2012. The dynamic asymmetrical shape and high back recall a natural water basin washed out of the rocks over the millennia.
“This being our first solid surface tub, it’s satisfying to see that the industry is responding so positively to the design. Ludovica+Roberto Palomba have created an organic, sumptuous collection for LAUFEN and their vision is being hailed by well-respected industry peers,” said Mike Teresso, president, LAUFEN North America, “To be recognized by Interior Design magazine is indeed an honor."
The rigorous selection process for the prestigious BoY award makes winning even more of an accomplishment. Candidates were first selected by the interior design and architectural community in an online voting process during two weeks in October. The votes were then tallied and candidates were narrowed down to just four per category. Editor-in-Chief Cindy Allen of Interior Design magazine along with a jury of industry leaders then began the careful process of deciding the winners from the finalists. All the finalists were invited to attend the evening event where the winners were announced to an audience of industry luminaries. Winners of the coveted award will also be featured in the December issue of Interior Design.
