Johnsonite Adds New Options In Stair Treads Into Its Stairwell Management Collection

CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio – As a part of its integrated and comprehensive product portfolio, Johnsonite®, the commercial arm of Tarkett and provider of the world’s most integrated high-performance flooring systems, has added to its industry-leading collection of stairwell management system products.  Two new stair tread options are now available – Metallurgy metallic colorways and Rice Paper textures.

Johnsonite has added stair treads to its popular Metallurgy Collection of rubber tiles and coordinating metallic finishing borders and accessories. The collection of metallic designs - first introduced in 2010 - add a new dimension to commercial flooring and are ideal for a range of applications including corporate and hospitality segments that require superior performance with a touch of luxury and distinction.

Designed to have the look of real metal, the metallic colorways of the Metallurgy rubber tile and tread finishes feature cool and warm silvers, brass, golds and coppers. Using a unique blend of actual metal pigments and premium Johnsonite construction, the distinctive Metallurgy Collection offers a shimmering aesthetic. The new Metallurgy rubber stair treads are available in all 12 colors with a Hammered texture, both with and without an integrated riser as a standard offering. As an extension of Johnsonite’s commitment to extensive offerings in product safety, striping for the visually impaired is also available. To complement Metallurgy rubber tile and treads, accessories such as Johnsonite’s unique Slim Line Transitions, Slim Line Nosings and Finishing Borders (wall base) are available in coordinating metallic finishes. Metallurgy 24” x 24” rubber tiles are available in 1/8” gauge.

Johnsonite is also proud to announce the addition of Rice Paper textured stair treads. This soft, but definitive surface was designed for good looks and performance. The softened graining adds a muted, reflective contrast to the surrounding areas while making this finish easy to maintain. The Rice Paper patterning complements many of the designs in Johnsonite’s rubber tile collection, but is a direct match to the background texture of the recently introduced Folio Bamboo Leaf design.

Johnsonite’s tread assortment consists of nine different textural finishes: Raised Round, Square, Hammered, Bamboo, Cubis, Fast Lane, Diamond, Sure Grip [chevron] and Smooth.

For perfect color coordination, the Johnsonite Rubber tiles, stair treads, stringers, risers, finishing borders and transitional moldings all come in the same 100 colors, allowing for an integrated palette throughout the space. For those one-of-a-kind projects, custom colors are offered through special request.

As a North American industry leader in sustainability, Johnsonite is committed to providing inventive solutions that balance each component of the bottom line: people, the environment and economics. In addition to providing exceptional aesthetics, the benefits of rubber flooring like Metallurgy include greater resource efficiency and reduced impact on the environment. The extreme durability of rubber offers both low-cost maintenance and environmentally friendly practices. Metallurgy, like all Johnsonite products, helps contribute toward obtaining Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) points.

All product solutions are part of the Johnsonite Balanced Choice flooring system, which includes rubber flooring, linoleum, heterogeneous vinyl, stairwell solutions, finishing borders and transitions. The Balanced Choice concept allows specifiers to unite function and aesthetics to help create efficiencies that pay-off for the end-user in real lifetime return. Johnsonite solutions work together functionally, aesthetically and with concern for the occupants of the space, making them more productive and providing a greater Return on Investment (ROI).
