Humantech Launches Ergopoint For Me, An Online Ergonomics Training And Self-Assessment Tool For The Single User
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The ergonomics consulting leader Humantech has brought its expertise in ergonomics training and workplace improvements to another web-based training and self-assessment software program. Ergopoint® for Me was developed with the small office or self-employed worker in mind. Whether work is conducted in a home office, a hotel room, or a nearby café, users of Ergopoint for Me will learn the basic principles of office ergonomics, and how to properly set up their work space. A properly set up workstation can significantly reduce the incidence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders or repetitive strain injuries.
Through a 30-minute interactive e-learning session, users will be able to understand the principles of office ergonomics and identify problematic areas in their work environment. Upon completing a short self-assessment survey, they will instantly receive a list of customized ergonomics solutions, from no-cost improvements to specific product and equipment recommendations. Product discounts from AliMed are available to subscribers.
Ergopoint for Me is a limited version of the more robust Ergopoint® Office Suite, which is geared toward larger organizations. Ergopoint Office Suite includes tools to help organizations manage office ergonomics locally, nationally, and internationally. “Our clients want to empower their employees by offering on-demand training, while also managing the process,” says James Mallon, Executive Vice President at Humantech. Launched in 2010, Ergopoint Office Suite has changed the way face-to-face ergonomics assessments have been done.
With three decades of experience as board certified ergonomists and trainers, Humantech’s team designed this online training and management tool with their clients’ needs in mind. “From our experience, we know that not everyone needs a face-to-face ergonomic assessment. If ten people from the general population were to use this program, seven would be able to solve their own problems, two would require face-to-face assessments, and only one person would require a more detailed, customized action plan to eliminate his or her potential for experiencing a work-related musculoskeletal disorder,” says Mallon.
Online training modules and e-learning courses are becoming more prevalent. They are convenient, efficient, and available on-demand from anywhere, anytime. “Generally speaking, every one hour of traditional classroom training can be delivered in 30% to 50% of the time through online training,” says Mallon.
“Ergopoint Office Suite has reduced my one-on-one assessments by 50%,” says Debra Erikson, Certified Occupational Health Nurse at Boston Scientific Corporation. Safety Specialist, Elena Perez, of the MD Anderson Cancer Center says, “Ergopoint Office Suite has really helped our environmental health and safety department keep the workplace assessments in queue. The training portion has been great! It reduces the amount of time spent doing assessments, so we can focus on other things.”
Ergopoint for Me was developed to offer the same training and solutions to self-employed individuals or small businesses. Users can purchase a 30-day subscription to Ergopoint for Me for only $29. For more information about Ergopoint for Me, visit www.ergopoint.com.
