Danfoss Introduces the 435 Series Actuator for the AB-QM Pressure Independent Control Valves
TORONTO — Danfoss, a leading manufacturer of high-efficiency electronic and mechanical components and controls for air-conditioning, heating, refrigeration and motion systems, recently released its new generation of 435 Series Actuators, which will replace the prior AME 15QM series of actuator for the Danfoss AB-QM pressure independent control valve (PICV).
The AME 435QM and AMV 435 are the first of a new design of actuators which offer improved operation with lower power consumption. This new family of actuators requires no additional tools when it is installed to the AB-QM valve bodies. The “click” on mounting mechanism of the actuator reduces actuator installation time.
Standard features for these new actuators include two selectable operation speeds, external LED for visual confirmation of actuator operation, end travel LED signaling and easy calibration via an external reset button. The 435 series of actuators are smaller and lighter than our previous model with 24 volt AC or DC power capabilities.
Specific to the modulation version of actuator, AME 435QM, a unique feature is offered in the selection of the control characteristic of the actuator. When a Logarithmic or equal percentage setting is selected, an optional adjustment can be made to the equal percentage characteristic effectively matching the actuator to the coil leading to an efficient control and balancing by the AB-QM assembly.
The AB-QM pressure independent control valve (PICV) from Danfoss blends two conventional system components, the balancing valve and the control valve, into one compact valve to provide a cost-effective means to ensure design flow at each terminal coil regardless of system differential pressure fluctuations. Achieving design flow at all times results in better control and comfort levels, as well as energy savings since over-flow conditions are eliminated. Because this valve takes the place of two conventional valves, there is very little project price increase, so the payback period is short.
