Practical Guide Promotes Contemporary Approach to Leadership

OSHAWA, Ontario – “With the exception of the very rich or the very lucky, we must work full time for at least 40 years of our lives,” says Garth S. Johns, author of Quit Your Job, Enjoy Your Work: Making Your Workplace More Enjoyable (published by iUniverse). “I believe that we all want to get up in the morning and look forward, as much as possible, to going to work. If we can enjoy that part of our life, perhaps we will enjoy other parts of our life even more.”

Written for organizational managers, leaders and staff in search of a better understanding of their workplace, Quit Your Job, Enjoy Your Work takes the approach that while everyone doesn’t have to love what they do for a living, they can at least have fun doing it and spend their days in a fun, positive work environment.

With a particular focus toward clarifying the difference between managers and leaders, Quit Your Job, Enjoy Your Work is filled with broad, accessible discussions of leadership practices and how those behaviors stem from childhood experiences. Johns details the more menial aspects of managerial work and offers tips and strategies for becoming a compassionate, effective leader capable of taking employees to greater heights, both personally and professionally.

“Regardless of all else we do as leaders, we have an obligation to be educators,” Johns writes. “We inspire and improve those around us by developing them and teaching them the lessons of life and of the workplace. Our role is to make them better, whether they are our children, our staff, our colleagues or our community.”
