Common Lighting Control Issues

Common deficiencies found during the lighting control commissioning process include the following:

  • Improperly set light levels
  • Incorrect sensor type installed (passive infrared or ultrasonic occupancy sensor)
  • Controller sensitivity and time settings not programmed properly
  • Improper placement of sensor view areas, resulting in either sensor turning on prematurely or not at all (common in warehouse and stock aisle applications)
  • Calibration of daylight sensor systems
  • Calibration and controllability of automatic shade systems
  • Programming of atomic clock settings for outdoor lighting.
