I had the NRG Corporate HQ building all set to go to drawings and Super Storm Sandy hit the Princeton, NJ., area. It made us fall back and punt. The end result is a totally sustainable LEED Platinum certified 130,000 square-foot office building.

The many constraints imposed by local environmental groups as well as the local utility - PSEG. We can disconnect from the national grid at any time. I have 500kW of energy storage. 250kW natural gas fired CHP with various stages of heat rejection per a 45 ton absorber, pre-heated baseboard return pipes, ice melt system. A 400kw natural gas generator for demand response/load shed. A 900kW diesel fired emergency generator. 530kW see-thru solar with rain caputure system that stores 60,000 gallons for urinal and toilet flushing. Two vertical wind turbines. Two solar pergolas. 16 EV Charging stations two of which are 480 V 'fast chargers.' A green roof. Solar thermal for potable hot water enhancement. Total recycling program. Bike share program. Day light harvesting. Blender bikes to make smoothies located in our in house gym. We serve American Heart Association's Healthy Meals to our employees and contractors.
