The U.S. Green Building Council has announced that LEED for New Construction (LEED-NC) v2.2 has been approved by its membership.
The change was announced Nov. 11 at USGBC’s Greenbuild Conference and Expo in Atlanta, Ga. The date marks the first time that LEED-NC v2.2 project registrations were made available.
USGBC has announced that all registered LEED-NC v2.0/v2.1 projects will still be able to apply for certification using the standard in place at the time of project registration.
The deadline for LEED-NC v2.1 Project Registrations has been extended until December 31, 2005. Registration can be made online at the LEED Web site. As of January 1, 2006, LEED-NC v2.2 will be the only LEED-NC version available for registration, according to the council.
Unlike the transition from v2.0 to v2.1, in the current revision, projects will not be able to mix different versions of credits within one submittal. If your project is currently registered for v2.0 or v2.1, and it is determined that v2.2 would work better for your project, you can switch entirely to v2.2 with no additional registration cost, USGBC says.
