Turning the Page with Gratitude
Dan Weltin writes his final editorial for Building Operating Management.
By Dan Weltin, Editor-in-Chief
I write this month’s editorial message with bittersweet emotions. While this is my last editorial for Building Operating Management, I won’t be going far. I’ve received a promotion to Director of Editorial Strategy and Engagement for our parent company, Trade Press Media Group. Now, I’m not only overseeing the facility editorial group, but all of our other media brands as well.
I’m excited for the opportunity to tackle the challenges that lie ahead. Media is currently undergoing an evolution. Artificial intelligence is a new tool, but also a disrupter. We’ll be exploring new ways to reach our readers and ensure we are providing you with the coverage you need. Attention is the new commodity and there is a lot of noise to cut through. I appreciate all of you who read this magazine, open our emails, and attend our live and virtual events. Never hesitate to let us know how we can better serve you.
At the same time, I’m sad to leave the day-to-day world of facilities editorial behind. These past five years have been rewarding. Facility management is a hardworking, yet under-appreciated profession. I’ve enjoyed getting to know many of you personally. I’ve loved hearing your stories and seeing the pride and professionalism you bring every day. I’m also proud of the numerous new projects we’ve launched in this market: fnPrime membership, Facility Champion Award, Facilities In Focus Podcast, interactive magazines and the Elevate conference to name a few.
This transition is easier knowing I leave you in good hands. Dave Lubach is stepping up from Executive Editor to be the new Chief. Dave has been with us for the past four years and actually “boomeranged” back after a stint on Facility Maintenance Decisions. Those of you that have already met Dave and read his articles know he possesses a great editorial perspective and has his finger on the pulse of this industry. I’m confident he will continue to update you on the current players, products, and trends.
Thank you for making facility management a pleasure to cover. I hope to see you at our next NFMT and Elevate conferences next year.
Dan Weltin is the Director of Editorial Strategy and Engagement for Trade Press Media Group, parent company of FacilitiesNet.
