GREENGUARD Releases Laboratory IAQ Testing Guidelines

The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) has released guidelines for third party product emissions laboratories.

The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) has released guidelines for third party product emissions laboratories. The document enables laboratories to pursue qualification to test products for the GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification Program.

The qualification guidelines include detailed descriptions of environmental chamber operations and required quality assurance processes. Laboratories interested in testing products for GREENGUARD Certification can now compare their facilities, testing procedures and quality control measures to the GREENGUARD requirements. The GREENGUARD Laboratory Guidelines can be accessed on the GREENGUARD standards page.

The release of laboratory guidelines is the first step toward a network of independent testing facilities around the world that can test products to the GREENGUARD product emission standards. The GEI will release standards addressing quality assurance and test methods for specific product categories through the ANSI Standard Setting Process starting this year. Participating laboratories will need to follow those protocols for accreditation. GEI will announce once a specific method is released as an ANSI Standard. Management, administration and monitoring of the GREENGUARD Certification Program will remain with the GEI to ensure continuous quality and program credibility.
