Northern Illinois University (NIU) offers Professional Development and Training to help participants stay up-to-date on topics important to their profession. The courses are taught by skilled NIU faculty and professionals with real-world experience, and many are endorsed by professional organizations to help attendees gain necessary credentials and certifications. Participants can take advantage of NIU's nationally recognized programs without applying to the university. The courses are non-credit, so do not apply towards an academic degree, but do provide appropriate continuing professional education units (CPEs/CEUs).
Program areas include: Engineering and Technology, Facility Management, Finance and Accounting, Human Resources, LEED Green Building, Sustainability Training, and Online Professional Development. Customized and On-site Programs: professional development courses can be tailored for an organization's needs and brought directly to the workplace or hosted at one of NIU's conference centers in Naperville, Rockford, or Hoffman Estates.
As a licensed provider of the Certified Facility Manager (CFM) and Facility Management Professional (FMP) credential competency courses, NIU currently offers eleven different FM-related courses in partnership with the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), including the Sustainability Training and LEED Green Building courses listed below.
