Program Description:
Join USGBC - Illinois Chapter's Chicago Branch for an educational session on sustainable site and stormwater management practices! Earn 1.5 GBCI CE hours and 1.5 AIA HSW/SD units (Project Site Factors and/or Water Management).
This session will focus on sustainable stormwater strategies and specific of sustainable stormwater systems. Panelists will discuss the benefits of stormwater management, details of the LEED credit documentation, lessons learned, and current trends and the future of sustainable stormwater design. Attendees will understand the engineering intent of Sustainable Site Point 6.1 and Sustainable Site Point 6.2 and why they are important for our region, as well as the specific strategies used to achieve these points. Methods discussed will include design philosophies and specific constructed elements which achieve the goal. Attendees will learn the basic of selecting plants for sustainable stormwater strategies and what to expect from these non-traditional plantings. Speakers will also provide an owner's perspective on having a site designed for sustainable stormwater.
