Rio Grande Fence Co.: Nashville Company Wins 2nd National Fence Contractor Award in 3 Years
Nashville, Tenn. — PRNewswire — Feb. 11, 2016 — Rio Grande Fence Co., of Nashville, was named 2015 National Fence Contractor of the Year by the American Fence Association at FENCETECH 2016 at Music City Center. Rio Grande has won the award two of the past three years.
"Rio Grande Fence has a proud, 58-year history in the fencing industry and Nashville," said Derek M. Smith, vice president of operations and the third-generation owner. "Winning our second AFA Fence Contractor of the Year Award in three years, and in our hometown, is extremely gratifying."
The AFA's Fence Contractor of the Year Award recognizes a company's outstanding service to AFA that advances the name, reputation, and ideals of the association on both local and national levels, as well as the company's integrity and character.
2015's Award recognized Rio Grande Fence Co.'s commitment to weekly, company-wide safety meetings; weekly professional education classes modeled after the national equivalent of AFA University; four employee scholarships to attend AFA University; and the company's annual Good Friday Service Project.
"Our dedication to employee safety and professional education is ongoing, as is our work in giving back to Nashville via our annual Good Friday Service Project," Smith said. "This year, all Rio Grande Fence employees partnered with the Ty2 Foundation. We donated labor and materials to install an 8-foot high black vinyl-coated chain link perimeter fence for a new lighted basketball court at Woodmont Hills Church. The court hosts youth league basketball, and as an outreach to the community, is always open to the public."
Since 1958, Rio Grande Fence has been installing and repairing fence for commercial and industrial projects in the Mid-South region. The company's work can be seen at Nashville's police precincts, Nissan Stadium, Nashville International Airport, and many other businesses, sports facilities, and government projects.
