MilliCare To Save 15 Tons Of Plastic Annually Through Redesigned Product Packaging

New chemical formulas, materials reduce weight by more than 90 percent

LaGRANGE, Ga. – <illiCare, an international franchise organization of carpet and textile care providers, has redesigned the packaging of two of its proprietary products. The result is a more than 90 percent savings on materials and significantly reduced shipping weight.

MilliCare’s Detergent Residue Neutralizer (DRN) has been reformulated from a liquid to tablet form. New DRN tabs are proven to perform better than the original liquid, at 99 percent less weight and 98 percent less packaging material. MilliCare’s DRN tabs are also WoolSafe approved and Green Seal (GS-37) certified.

MilliCare Dry Carpet Cleaner (MDCC) also has an improved formula with the same fast dry time as the original product, and is Green Seal (GS-37) certified.

In addition, MilliCare now offers the option to ship MDCC in bags to franchise locations – rather than traditional plastic buckets – offering a 90 percent reduction in packaging material and 67.5 percent more efficient use of shipping space. New MDCC bags will save an estimated 15 tons of plastic per year.

Stephen Lewis, MilliCare’s technical director, explains how these updates are part of the company’s ongoing efforts to reduce environmental impact.

“We reinvented our DRN and MDCC products to not only make them more effective, but to offer even more reasons why the MilliCare process is the most sustainable option in the commercial cleaning business,” said Lewis. “Our franchisees and customers can have confidence in knowing they work with a constantly evolving, environmentally responsible partner.”

Both DRN and MDCC products are used exclusively by MilliCare technicians as part of the company’s patented dry cleaning process, which is proven to extend the life of carpet and textiles, improve indoor air quality and reduce water consumption with minimal downtime.
