Greenebaum & Rose Associates Leverages Team of Solution Providers to Drive Energy Efficiency in its Properties
WASHINGTON -- Greenebaum & Rose Associates (GR) announced today that it is launching a new effort to drive sustainable energy savings in its properties, by leveraging a team of technology and service providers. The roll-out across the Greenebaum & Rose portfolio of buildings will be phased, beginning with their flagship property at 888 First Street, NE in Washington, DC. Located in Union Center Plaza, the 888 First Street Property is the headquarters of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
Achieving and sustaining energy savings in a building requires active participation of facility managers and occupants, measurement and verification of initiatives and real-time feedback to stakeholders on the actions taken. Recognizing these key levers, Greenebaum & Rose has engaged multiple providers to work with Union Center Plaza Management, the property management team for the FERC building, to drive sustainable, energy efficiencies. The team includes Skyetec, providing energy audit services, Noveda Technologies, providing real-time energy monitoring and CleanEdison providing training to FERC employees in energy conservation. A high-definition kiosk display, showing the real-time energy data, will also be installed in the main lobby of FERC to provide energy transparency and communicate environmental stewardship to stakeholders.
Greenebaum & Rose and specifically, the 888 First Street Property, has a history of being a pioneer in energy efficiency in the Washington, D.C area. Built in 1995, the FERC building utilizes a hybrid gas-electric chiller system and other energy-conserving measures to meet energy efficiency, and environmental goals while maintaining occupant comfort. These measures reduce the building's energy cost per square foot well below the cost for other similar office buildings in the area.
"Greenebaum & Rose is focused on driving reduction in resource use in all our buildings and maximizing energy savings for our tenants," said Samuel G. Rose, President and Founder, Greenebaum & Rose Associates. "We have brought on this team to engage all stakeholders and proactively manage resource use in order to save energy, lower costs, and optimize building performance."
In addition to 888 First Street, NE, Greenebaum & Rose has plans to implement energy efficiency initiatives in its other flagship property at 820 First Street, NE, whose main tenant is the Washington DC Bureau of CNN.
