ClimateCraft: BalanceStream Reduces Fan Array Energy Consumption, Prevents Surge
Oklahoma City, Okla. — May 20, 2015 — BalanceStream, a new product from ClimateCraft, is a spring-actuated inlet cone that makes it possible to unload a fan down to 10 percent of load without the need to cycle fans in a fan array system, and while maintaining a reliable flow profile.
Because it can accommodate a fan’s controlled static pressure at flows down to 10 percent, BalanceStream reduces energy consumption while offering improved fan array system stability.
It also helps prevent fan surge, which creates noise and vibration and reduces equipment life, said Walter Mecozzi, senior vice president of engineering, ClimateCraft.
The product is designed for use on Climate Craft’s FanMatrix fan array systems but can also be used on individual fans.
Because BalanceStream is spring-actuated, no changes to or integration with the facility’s controls are required, said Gina Cottrell, vice president of marketing and sales support for ClimateCraft.
BalanceStream has only one moving part and requires no lubrication or periodic maintenance.
