Staples: Company Enhances Assortment of Breakfood Offerings

Framingham, Mass. — April 7, 2016 — Staples Business Advantage, the business-to-business division of Staples, Inc., announced new initiatives with MARS DRINKS and LeanBox to enhance its assortment of breakroom offerings while delivering gourmet beverages and healthier food to power the U.S. workforce.

For coffee lovers, Staples Business Advantage now distributes MARS DRINKS’ single-serve Flavia brewers, which offer premium cappuccinos, lattes, and mochas, plus coffees, teas, and hot chocolate each in less than a minute at the touch of a button.

MARS DRINKS brewers combine reliable performance and hassle-free maintenance, making it easier for people at work to create and enjoy a cup of their favorite brew. The company’s patented brewing process ensures no cross-over in flavor from one drink to the next.

According to the Staples Business Advantage Workplace Index, office perks such as coffee and snacks are key to attracting and retaining talent, particularly among millennials – 57 percent of whom agree that a well-stocked breakroom leads to happier, more engaged employees.

Staples Business Advantage now also offers a variety of fresh food, courtesy of LeanBox, which provides gourmet salads, sandwiches, and snacks in a kiosk the size of a refrigerator. Supplying healthy foods goes a long way toward attracting and retaining talent – as nearly a third of employees look for healthy snacks in the workplace according to the study.

Currently available to customers in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Southern New Hampshire, LeanBox monitors real-time inventory data to track eating preferences and restock food accordingly.

“A well-designed and well-stocked breakroom can help employees recharge, refresh, and be more productive,” said Kerry Anne Carter, vice president, Staples Business Advantage. “For employers looking to provide a collaborative and relaxing breakroom space, Staples Business Advantage offers innovative solutions that promote employee well-being and foster productivity.”

Employees value an office breakroom that serves as both an extension of the office and a place to escape, as 38 percent define a good work culture as having an open and collaborative environment, where employers can leverage the breakroom not only as a place to unwind, but also as a work space.

In addition to supplying food and beverages, Staples Business Advantage helps businesses equip their breakrooms with leading office furniture, appliances, technology, and cleaning solutions.
