CEC Entertainment: Company Honored for Ongoing Commitment to Protecting Environment, Improving Energy Efficiency
Irving, Texas — Sept. 15, 2015 — CEC Entertainment, Inc. announced that it has been awarded the annual Environmental Sustainability Award for its continued and longstanding efforts to improve the environmental sustainability and energy efficiency of its Chuck E. Cheese's restaurants.
The annual award, presented by EnTouch Controls, is given to businesses that have made a significant, positive impact on the environment and raised overall awareness of improved operational practices.
Environmental sustainability continues to be the buzz in the restaurant community, according to the National Restaurant Association’s What’s Hot Culinary Forecast, which ranked environmental sustainability as the third hottest menu trend this year. Restaurants are continually evaluating and increasing participation in new opportunities and efforts to save resources as well as addressing rising utility costs throughout the country.
“We are proud to receive this recognition for our sustainability practices and are always striving to make positive changes in this increasingly important aspect of business innovation,” said Tom Leverton, CEO of CEC Entertainment.
Leverton received the Environmental Sustainability Award at a ceremony at CEC Entertainment, Inc.’s corporate offices in Irving, Texas, on Sept. 14.
As part of its strategy to minimize its environmental footprint, CEC Entertainment has committed to implementing energy efficient systems in its corporate restaurants, as well as promoting these sustainability practices with its valued franchisees. With environmentally conscious practices in place, the company has made the following impact:
• Each energy-efficient Chuck E. Cheese’s restaurant uses, on average, 14 percent less energy and saves more than 32,074 kilowatt hours per year, equal in savings to eliminating more than 52,659 miles driven by an average passenger vehicle.
• Every energy-efficient Chuck E. Cheese’s restaurant has reduced its carbon footprint, on average, by more than 48,750 pounds of CO2 per year.
• CEC Entertainment, Inc. projects its total electricity use will be reduced by more than 9,942 megawatt hours each year, reducing its carbon footprint by nearly 6,856 tons of CO2 each year.
“We chose CEC Entertainment, Inc. as the recipient of our annual Environmental Sustainability Award based on its continued commitment to environmentally friendly practices and energy saving procedures,” said Greg Fasullo, CEO, EnTouch Controls. “Since the brand utilizes EnTouch’s energy management services, it now has the ability to analyze critical energy data to drive decision-making and future impact. This has positively affected guest acquisition and improved the brand’s bottom line.”
