PRSM Launches Sustainability Resource Center for Retail Industry
DALLAS, TX – The Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association (PRSM), the authority on retail, multi-site facilities management has introduced a comprehensive sustainability-focused resource center, within prsm.com, to help retailers improve their ongoing green efforts or get started with a customized plan designed for their specific needs.
PRSM’s Sustainability Resource Center, the online product of a working group of member professionals from across the Retail FM industry, went live with its first release – a ‘Waste and Recycling’ module designed to empower Facilities Managers to take control of waste and recycling programs, in turn putting them in leadership roles regarding sustainable best-practices. The Waste module is the first of eight focus areas – the others will be released in phases over the next 12 months to provide a complete guide to all things sustainable in the retail sector.
In addition to the Waste and Recycling module, the Sustainability Resource Center will soon include modules on these focus areas:
Occupant Comfort
Water Efficiency
Energy Performance
Green Cleaning
Outdoor/Site Maintenance
Procurement
Indoor Air Quality
“Recognizing that there are no sustainability programs specifically tailored for the retail facilities industry, PRSM leveraged the expertise of its members and the PRSM Sustainability Council to develop the Sustainability Resource Center,” said Patricia Dameron, Executive Director of PRSM. “This truly positions PRSM as the go-to source in sustainable retail environments and practices – especially since the Sustainability Resource Center will serve as a comprehensive resource that will direct users to trusted content that is both relevant and digestible to their specific management role, product and/or service offering.”
The overall goal of this effort is to help PRSM members understand the unique challenges green programs present to the retail industry, while applying the appropriate solutions and technologies used to advance and measure the effectiveness of sustainability efforts. As such, the PRSM Sustainability Resource Center includes a guide and quick-start worksheet to help users create a Sustainability Action Plan, engage key corporate stakeholders and drive results – creating a true sustainable corporate plan.
