Bainbridge Island School District

The Bainbridge Island School District, located on a beautiful island in Puget Sound, is a 35-minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle, Washington. In this island environment where severe storms and power glitches are common, managing a network of 1 data center and 38 data closets became challenging for the resource limited IT staff. Efficient monitoring of the physical infrastructure was required so that system uptime could be maintained.

The goal was to provide stable data center and network services across the multi-building, multicampus school district. Schneider Electric offered both EcoStruxure IT Expert Mobile Insights app and their Service Bureau in order to simplify remote monitoring and alarm management on and off hours. “Off hours” monitoring and troubleshooting work was reduced to minutes instead of hours. IT and administrative staff experienced peace of mind knowing that Schneider Electric Service Bureau experts were acting as an extra set of eyes and monitoring the data center on a 24/7 basis. Cavern Technologies

Cavern Technologies’ Kansas City colocation facility is located 125 feet underground, in a 3 million-square-foot limestone bunker — solid protection from natural disasters. The company develops, leases and operates enterprise-class data centers, in a secure, environmentally-friendly facility, and focuses on, not only operational excellence, but also transparency. It’s customers — in the financial, healthcare, insurance and technology industries — say they get as much, if not more, visibility in their walled, private suites here, than they would running their own on-premises data centers. They are responsible for clean power and cooling up into the rack, and we enable our customers to have full transparency into what’s going on in the facility.

This visibility is made possible through Schneider Electric’s open, interoperable, IoT-enabled EcoStruxure system architecture and platform. Cavern Technologies has deployed EcoStruxure’s on-premise Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) Solution, StruxureWare for Data Centers, to provide visibility and insights to proactively handle incidents and improve planning and efficiency across the data center. They utilize Schneider’s Service Bureau’s 24×7 remote monitoring service, leveraging the cloud-enabled DCIM solution to provide data driven service for business continuity, vendor neutral asset risk management via sensors and cloud-based monitoring tools. Instant anytime, anywhere access to the service team is provided through the EcoStruxure IT app, which also enable them to monitor the site and on-duty staffing. Read the full customer story.
