Companies in nearly every industry are in the midst of budgeting season, and facility managers are putting together their wish list of projects that they hope to accomplish in the new year. But wish lists are just that – wishes. In an ideal world, every submission would be accepted with no questions asked. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case, especially in industries like facilities management.
Knowing this, Facility managers need to be selective on the projects they submit, so they get the funding for it. Recently, FacilitiesNet asked facility managers what they would ask for if they had an unlimited budget. From giving all staff members a significant raise to replacing their facility’s entire hvac system, respondents had a plethora of ideas on what they would use the money for. Here are some of the answers we received:
- Increase salary to better compete for new hires
- District wide HVAC replacement
- Expand and upgrade parking lots and driveways
- Replace all roofs
- Improve Indoor Air Quality
- Fully automate restrooms for monitoring and alerts for services
- Upgrade sewer system
- New washers and dryer
- Install larger generators
- Replace aluminum framed windows
- Reorganize the premises
- Upgrade to a fully smart school
- Replace chillers that have reached life cycle end
- Upgrade access control systems so all doors require badge access
