Determining Average Cleaning Price Per Square Foot
Help provide data points for industry market study. September 3, 2026
When it comes to cleaning facilities, the most common question is always “What’s the average price per square foot for my facility?”
Of course, the answer is different for every building. However, having a benchmark for this metric is critical when pricing contracts.
This is one data point Contracting Profits and Facility Cleaning Decisions (sister publications of FacilitiesNet), along with Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI), is determining in their next installment of the "Cleaning Costs and Frequency Report."
This is where you come in. This survey relies on data from readers of FacilitiesNet. Click here to access the survey. Respondents will have the option to enter to win an Amazon gift card.
Average cost per square foot is provided for myriad facility market types, including commercial, healthcare, K-12 schools, higher learning, government, hospitality, stadiums and more.
In addition to cost per square foot, the report breaks down frequencies for 16 cleaning tasks in six specific facility types: corporate office, multi-tenant office, K-12 schools, college/universities, hospital/long-term care facilities and government facilities.
This year’s data will be compared against past reports, notably how costs and frequencies have changed since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Results will be available later this year. You can participate here.
