Manager, Engineering (WEST)
The Engineering Manager is accountable for the overall success of Operations and Maintenance services. This position will provide technical and managerial leadership. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for campus maintenance, operation, for the University’s portfolio of owned and leased buildings in Westchester, which consists of two campuses: Pleasantville and White Plains. The Engineering Manager will manage the activities of the Outsource Service Provider.
•Responsible for all types of building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, automation systems, energy conservation programs and utility distribution.
•Manage Outsource Service Provider contract.
•Establish and conduct a preventive maintenance, deferred maintenance and repair program.
•Respond to emergency conditions.
•Manage Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for all facilities.
•Establish work rules, policies, and processes and leverage technology to ensure maximum productivity and efficient delivery of services.
•Manage consultants, service contractors and maintenance agreements.
•Oversee the major utility systems and their connected distribution systems.
•Prepare periodic reports related to Facility Engineering performance and operations.
•Develop and manage overtime approval process.
•Develop and manage annual budget for Facilities Maintenance and Operations and Capital Projects.
•Provide input and justification to multi-year capital infrastructure plan and Budget.
•Participate in the capital projects conception and design and advise on all MEP system design.
•Work collaboratively with the Energy Management team to develop programs that reduce energy consumption and increase sustainable practices.
•Ensure that compliance of all regulatory laws and guidelines.
•Participate in disaster recovery planning and management and Business Continuity Planning.
•Performs other such duties as assigned from time to time.
•Minimum of 10 years of experience with an excellent track record in all phases of Engineering Management including operations, maintenance, deferred maintenance projects, design and construction, preferably in a higher education environment.
•Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field required.
•Fundamental skills in engineering systems such as emergency/stand-by generators, automatic transfer switches, power distribution systems, boilers, HVAC, fire life safety and all other systems.
•Knowledge of Local, State, Federal codes, laws and reporting requirements.
•A strong leadership profile: articulate, diplomatic, excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
•Demonstrates leadership in Operations and Maintenance management for school-wide operations.
•Monday – Friday 9am -5pm with additional days and hours as required by business needs.
•This position is designated by the University as essential services personnel and is expected to be on call as business needs warrant.
