Public Works Facilities Maintenance Supervisor
The City of Leawood is hiring a Facility Supervisor to oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and repair activities of its City-owned facilities. This position will coordinate and manage in-house facility projects from planning through completion, ensuring buildings and grounds are safe, functional, and well-maintained. The Facility Supervisor will serve as the primary contact between staff and vendors on assigned projects, ensuring work is completed efficiently, within budget, and in compliance with City standards and timelines. As the Facility Supervisor, you will split your time between coordinating facility projects and developing a team of skilled Facility Technicians and Specialists.

Your work responsibilities may include:
• Oversee the Facility Maintenance division. Responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Facilities team, ensuring routine building and facility inspections are completed, and coordinating the completion of facility-related tickets.
• Responsible for ensuring all City property and buildings comply with federal and state laws and regulations.
• Assist with hiring and coordination of service companies that perform janitorial services at City facilities.
• Coordinate with the Fire Department on annual fire inspections of City buildings and facilities.
• Responsible for the supervision and development of facilities maintenance personnel.
• Assist with city-wide facility construction projects. May coordinate contract work with outside agencies.
• Keeping abreast of changes to state and national building best practices, and OSHA standards through publications, seminars/workshops, conferences, and professional associations.
Minimum Requirements: Have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in building maintenance, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or building mechanical systems, or equivalent experience and education. Education may be substituted for some of the required experience. Have a minimum of two (2) years of supervisor or lead experience. Supervisory or lead experience includes completing performance appraisals, directing employee`s daily work assignments, or evaluating the crew assignments.
Preferred Requirements: Ten (10) years of coordinating building maintenance in a governmental setting. HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical certification. Associate’s degree in electrical, plumbing, HVAC or related field with six (6) years of experience with two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience. International Facility management Association or Certified Facility Manager or be able to obtain within a timeframe designated by the Public Works Director.
