Description: Large private school located in South Florida has an opening for an experienced Director of Operations.

This position is responsible for the professional, efficient, sustainable and visionary management of daily campus-based operational facilities issues, including oversight of security, maintenance, the Health & Wellness office, routine reactive, emergency response, and preventative maintenance programs at Scheck Hillel - all in alignment with the mission and vision of the School and its Core Values. Sources and monitors performance of contracted vendor maintenance, repair projects and when needed capital improvement projects (in collaboration with the Head of School). 

Accountable for the hiring, supervision, and training of campus-based maintenance, grounds and custodial and security staff to ensure adherence to operational, maintenance and safety standards of the department. Prepares and administers budgets related to utilities, equipment, materials, and food service for the campus. Creates annual and multi-year schedules for replacement of depreciated equipment and sources additional sustainable products and services for the efficient and safe operational of the school. Works closely with other leadership members to serve the mission, vision and Core Values of the school

Duties and Responsibilities:


All aspects of campus activities and functions related to the operation, security and maintenance of the campus and the related facilities, utilities and food service

Daily systems and procedures to ensure seamless execution of all school operations, including facilities management, technology, security, school safety plans and the Health & Wellness Center

Supervises Associate Director of Operations

Workers engaged in maintaining and repairing physical structures of buildings and grounds.

The management of the operations of and inspects facilities 

Solutions related to maintenance, access, traffic, and other facilities related problems. 

Regular inspection of facilities

Schedules related to preventative maintenance for equipment, machines, and the facility

depreciation and replacement of all operational related equipment

Services provided by outside vendors

Supervision of the Security Manager to keep campus safe and continuously improve campus security

Effective resolution of unscheduled or emergency assignments ensuring service continuity

Performance of direct report employees

Development of short and long term goals: Includes goals, objectives, priorities and/or recommendations

Oversees all insurance coverages and policies related to all school operations and activities

All tasks related to the preparation of the annual and other periodic budgets for the Operations departments

Expenditure and revenue patterns (related to operational income, grants, etc) and adjust the budget, as needed

Effective communication with School personnel and others through written and online methods administrative and informational matters, as necessary

Oversees coordination of all events on campus 

Attend workshops, seminars or conferences to enhance  job related skills. Maintain ongoing knowledge of policies, procedures, laws and ordinances, benefits, insurance, and facilities contractual agreements.

Follow established safety practices.
