Description: The City of Garden Grove`s Public Works Department is looking for qualified applicants for the position of Public Works Supervisor in the Building Maintenance section. Under general direction, the Public Works Supervisor is responsible for the administrative and day-to-day operations of the Building Maintenance unit, including the maintenance and upgrade of all City facilities.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate possesses experience planning and directing field operations, supervising and leading others, developing working relationships, assessing work situations to resolve problems and make appropriate decisions; is thoroughly knowledgeable in safety laws and OSHA regulations; is customer service oriented, works well with others, and communicates clearly verbally and in writing.

EDUCATION:

Graduation from an accredited high school or successful completion of the G.E.D. exam and one year (30 semester units or equivalent) of classes reasonably related to the assigned work section, from an accredited college or university.

EXPERIENCE:

Four years of journey-level experience in one ore more construction trades, including at least one year of lead or foreman experience is required. Experience in the maintenance and operation of class 5 multi-level professional buildings is highly desirable.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess experience coordinating bid processes; working closely with architects and engineers to develop designs and specifications; managing building remodel projects; overseeing operations, maintenance, preservation, and restoration of facilities including building heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Play Equipment Inspection Certification and EPA 608 certification is highly desirable.

Must possess a valid California class C California driver license and maintain an acceptable driving record. An acceptable driving record is one that has three (3) or fewer DMV points issued within the past five (5) years, and no more than one (1) DUI within the past ten (10) years.
