The fuel gas valve on defective gas/electric packaged units can open unexpectedly, posing the possibility of a gas leak and fire hazard, according to the Consumer Product Safey Commission’s recall notice.
The recall involves several models of gas/electric packaged units with the Trane or American Standard brand names. The products were purchased from various HVAC dealers and retailers between January 2024 and March 2025. Nearly 5,000 units are affected by the recall.
Facility managers who have purchased these units should disconnect and stop using the heating mode on the units immediately. They should then contact their dealer who installed the unit to schedule an appointment for a free inspection and repair, by replacing the ignition board of the unit.
There has been one report of gas leaking from a defective unit, but no injuries reported.
