The Environmental Protection Agency announced it is rolling back limits on “forever chemicals” in drinking water. Forever chemicals are proven to increase cancer risk and cause lower infant birth weights. The Trump Administration is rolling back several Biden era restrictions on the permissible amounts of forever chemicals in drinking water.

Environmental groups are planning to challenge the new rules. Experts at the Natural Resources Defense Council, according to Sustainable Views, say the Safe Drinking Water Act does give the EPA authority to set limits on chemicals in drinking water, but does not permit it to loosen restrictions already in place, which is what appears to be happening here.
