As commercial and institutional buildings become smarter and business operations more interconnected, facility management is emerging as a powerful force behind efficiency, sustainability and long-term organizational success.

The global facility management market is on a strong growth trajectory, with new research from Global Market Insights projecting the industry will expand from more than $2.45 trillion today to over $4.70 trillion by 2035.

Several factors are driving this growth. Rapid urbanization, continued investment in smart infrastructure and rising demand for efficient building operations are reshaping the landscape. Facility management is no longer viewed solely as a maintenance function but as a critical discipline that supports workplace productivity, occupant safety and long-term resilience.

Outsourced facility management services are expected to be a major growth area, with the segment projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.4 percent between 2026 and 2035. Companies are increasingly turning to external providers for services such as HVAC maintenance, security and energy management, allowing internal teams to focus on core business priorities while maintaining high service standards.

Meanwhile, hard services remain the largest segment of the facilities management market. Accounting for 54.3 percent of the market in 2025, the segment is forecast to grow at a 6 percent CAGR through 2035. Covering critical systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire protection, hard services continue to be essential for minimizing downtime, ensuring compliance and protecting infrastructure investments.
