What’s Your Story?
Turn hard-earned lessons into insights that help move the facilities management profession forward
By Dan Hounsell, Senior Editor
What’s your story?
Your response to that question matters because no one has all the answers, including maintenance and engineering managers in institutional and commercial facilities. In the last decade, the world of facilities has become more chaotic, fluid and unpredictable, seemingly by the day.
Chances are, the longer you’ve been in the facilities management profession, the more answers you’ve found to the many challenges facilities present, whether it’s implementing a new CMMS, tackling the ongoing issue of staffing or navigating the budgeting process to secure funding for deferred maintenance projects.
The road to success probably wasn’t easy. You had to learn about people, processes and organizations in new ways, apply new tactics and strategies, and see the process all the way through to ensure the department and organization realized tangible benefits.
Your success doesn’t have to stop there, though. Managers in other organizations are looking for solutions to the same challenges you’ve already faced and overcome. Why not share your story?
Consider presenting your success in a presentation at NFMT West 2026, taking place Nov. 3-4 in Las Vegas. The national conference for the maintenance and engineering managers, facility managers, building owners and facility executives offers an opportunity to share what you’ve learned and accomplished with attendees who understand the challenge you’ve overcome and probably need guidance facing their own challenges.
