The U.S. Green Building Council is seeking beta testers for new exam tracks for facilities and interiors professionals, as well as an updated version of the current exam for new construction.

Candidates from all backgrounds and regions are eligible to apply. USGBC will select beta testers based on a number of criteria including professional role, region, and the self-assessment of job related tasks.

The purpose of beta testing is to gather statistics on item performance and to ensure that the final exam accurately measures an individual’s ability to apply the LEED Rating System. USGBC will beta test all three exam tracks:

LEED for New Construction and Major Renovations
LEED for Existing Building and Operations
LEED for Commercial Interiors

If you would like to apply to become a beta test candidate, click here to complete the application. Beta testers who are selected, will receive additional instructions on how to register for the exam. There is no charge for beta testers, and those candidates who pass the beta exam will earn the LEED Accredited Professional credential.

About the exams:

LEED for Existing Buildings Exam: The LEED-EB exam will verify that an individual possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to support and encourage the operation, upgrade and project team integration required for implementation of LEED on existing building projects. The exam will test an individual’s understanding of the practices and principals of green building operations and upgrades and familiarity with LEED-EB requirements, resources and processes.

LEED for Commercial Interiors Exam: The LEED-CI exam will verify that an individual understands green commercial interior design practices and principals, and familiarity with LEED-CI requirements, resources and processes. LEED Accredited Professionals who pass the LEED-CI exam track will help meet the growing demand from the private and public sectors for green commercial interiors.

LEED for New Construction and Major Renovations Exam: The LEED-NC exam verifies that an individual possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to participate in the design process to support and encourage the design integration required by LEED and to streamline the application and certification process. The current exam is based on LEED-NC version 2.1. This fall USGBC will be releasing an updated exam for NC based on version 2.2.
