RFP: LEED-NC for Retail Pilot Manager

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and LEED-NC for Retail Development Committee have completed development of the pilot version of the LEED-NC Application Guide for Retail (AGR).

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and LEED-NC (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-New Construction) for Retail Development Committee have completed development of the pilot version of the LEED-NC Application Guide for Retail (AGR). USGBC policy requires that the LEED-NC AGR be pilot tested and refined as necessary prior to USGBC Member ballot. The LEED-NC for Retail Committee requires the services of a highly skilled consultant to manage the Retail pilot program.

The LEED-NC AGR builds on the LEED-NC v2.1/v2.2 Rating Systems. Selected prerequisites and credits have been modified in the pilot version of the application guide to address design and construction decisions and opportunities unique to retail projects. The goal in the development of this is to produce a LEED product that can be used to appropriately reward and recognize the incorporation of green design and construction strategies into retail projects.

The ideal candidate for management of this pilot program will have a demonstrated knowledge of the LEED-NC Rating System including project documentation and certification requirements and extensive experience working with the unique timelines and project constraints inherent in retail design and construction. Strong preference will be given to respondents that have completed a LEED-NC certified project and have participated in pilot testing of other LEED Rating Systems. Experience managing prototype and volume build retail projects is also desirable. The candidate selected will be a USGBC member in good standing. The consultant will be responsible for credit interpretations, technical support, customer service, resource development (LEED Reference Guide supplemental package) and will assist in pilot certification application reviews.

Applied architectural, engineering, and sustainability expertise and familiarity with the LEED Rating System and the LEED certification process will be essential to the successful execution of this work.

The respondent should demonstrate depth of technical expertise and breadth of coverage of existing LEED-NC credits. In addition the proposal should clearly demonstrate a thorough understanding of the LEED development cycle and pilot requirements while accounting for the unique nature of the retail development market. A thorough understanding of the interrelationship among the LEED-NC, LEED-CI and LEED-CS rating systems is also desirable.

This work will be conducted under the terms of USGBC's standard contract for services with a task order issued to cover the tasks required under this RFP. Submission Date Proposals to undertake this work should be submitted electronically to Brendan Owens, LEED Program Manager for Technical Support — bowens@usgbc.org by 8:00 PM Eastern, June 20, 2005.
