IFMA Appoints Five New Members to Board of Directors
The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) has announced the appointment of Lt. Col. Thomas L. Mitchell, USAF, CFM, CFMJ; Eileen McMorrow; Rick Snyder; and Meredith Thatcher, CFM, CFMJ, IFMA Fellow, to its 2005-06 board of directors.
The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) has announced the appointment of Lt. Col. Thomas L. Mitchell, USAF, CFM, CFMJ; Eileen McMorrow; Rick Snyder; and Meredith Thatcher, CFM, CFMJ, IFMA Fellow, to its 2005-06 board of directors. Additionally, Lionel Prodgers, the current chair of EuroFM, will be joining the IFMA board after completing his tenure on the EuroFM Board in December.
Lt. Col. Thomas L. Mitchell is chief of civil engineering readiness with the U.S. Air Force’s Air Education and Training Command in Schertz, Texas. Mitchell and his staff are responsible for providing training to civil engineering personnel from 13 military installations that support global aerospace operations, homeland defense and disaster preparedness. He previously served as the commander of the 96th Civil Engineering Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, the Air Force’s largest base with 11.6 million square feet of physical plant spanning 724 miles and 3,450 facilities.
Eileen McMorrow, an award-winning journalist, currently serves as editor and publisher of the McMorrow Report, a Web site and publication she launched in October 2003, based in Upper Montclair, N.J. Her entire business journalism career has served the facility management, real estate management, architecture, space planning and design professions.
Rick Snyder, district manager for the Southwest with Milliken Carpet in Dallas, has more than 15 years’ experience on the local and international level with IFMA. Snyder recently completed his second two-year term on the IFMA Foundation's board of trustees. He has a wealth of corporate sales and operational experience.
Meredith Thatcher, president of the Carroll Thatcher Planning Group Inc. in Ottawa, Ontario, has extensive experience as a facility management practitioner, author, educator and IFMA volunteer. She is a regular contributor to industry trade publications and has spoken at World Workplace and numerous industry events in Canada, New Zealand and the United States.
Lionel Prodgers is chief executive of ARK, a consulting firm in London, and the current chair of the European Facility Management Network (EuroFM). Prodgers’ IFMA appointment will take effect on January 1. Prodgers manages the business of ARK, a company he formed in 2000 which specializes in information management solutions and performance improvement for the facility management industry.
Teena L. Shouse, CFM, general manager of employee services for Sprint Nextel, will serve as the Association’s chair for 2005-06. Gary P. Broersma, CFM, director of global facility management for Covance, and John J. McGee, chief operating officer for Union Switch & Signal Inc., were named as first and second vice chairs, respectively, rounding out IFMA's Executive Committee on the board of directors.
