The Alliance to Save Energy has recognized development of ASHRAE’s Advanced Energy Design Guide for Small Office Buildings with an honorable mention award. This is the first time the Alliance has given an honorable mention as part of its annual Stars of Energy Efficiency Awards program.
The guide was developed by a committee representing a diverse group of energy professionals drawn from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the New Buildings Institute (NBI) and the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA).
The guide provides a sensible, hands-on approach to design through use of products that are practical and commercially available as "off-the-shelf" technology from major manufacturers.
The guide provides recommendations on how to build energy-efficient small office buildings that use significantly less energy than those built to minimum code requirements. The recommendations in the guide provide benefits for the owner while maintaining quality and functionality of the space.
