DOE Offers Funding for Plant-wide Assessments

The Department of Energy's (DOE) Industrial Technologies Program is offering funds that companies can use to conduct plant-wide assessments (PWA). Up to $1 million in total funding is available, with as much as $100,000 available per award. Proposals are due May 3, 2005.

A PWA examines energy intensive processes in an industrial facility, determines which plant systems offer the greatest energy savings potential, and then identifies specific actions to achieve those savings.

DOE plans to develop a portfolio of PWAs that can be used by industries to identify energy efficiency opportunities in industrial plants and a comprehensive list of energy efficiency actions that industrial plants can consider to improve energy performance.

Through open, competitive solicitations, DOE offers opportunities for industry to participate in cost-shared efforts to identify significant energy reductions.
