The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently introduced new, simplified provisions for seismic building design. FEMA’s National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program unveiled its FEMA P-1091 Recommended Simplified Provisions for Seismic Design Category B Buildings to help communities adopt and enforce building codes and design standards for protection of buildings from earthquakes and to help design engineers fully comply with code requirements.
