Miron Construction, Symbiont and Biothane team awarded FCPC Renewable Generation Waste-To-Energy Project

Milwaukee, Wis. – The team consisting of Miron Construction Co., Inc., Symbiont, Inc., and Biothane, LLC. has been awarded the $18.6 million design-build FCPC (Forest County Potawatomi Community) Renewable Generation, LLC Waste-to-Energy project. Miron will provide overall project management and general contracting for the project. Symbiont will provide balance-of-plant engineering and Biothane, LLC will provide process technology engineering and equipment. The project team is exceptionally qualified, bringing vast experience in the design and construction of industrial wastewater treatment facilities to the table.

The project was undertaken by the newly-created FCPC Renewable Generation, LLC and will include a 15,100-square-foot building, on approximately 2.6 acres, west of the existing FCPC casino. The facility will house equipment to break down organic materials into methane gas, fueling engines that will produce up to two megawatts of power. One unique aspect of the project is that it’s being constructed in modules to allow for future expansion and ease of reconfiguration. In addition, the construction process will create 75 to 100 construction jobs at its peak. After the facility is completed, five people will work there full-time.

“Symbiont’s fastest growing market segment, over the past year has been waste-to-energy,” said Jeff VanVoorhis, director of marketing for Symbiont. “Funding has provided incentives for renewable energy projects to replace conventional fossil fuels. These projects provide our clients with green energy and positions themselves as sustainable businesses.”

“As an environmentally-conscious company, we’re excited to team with the best in our industry to complete this important project for the Forest County Potawatomi Community,” stated Jason Rieth, Miron’s industrial project executive overseeing the project.

Ground breaking is scheduled for this fall with anticipated completion in the fourth quarter of 2013.
