Reporting to the SVP of Finance and Administration/COO, the Sr. Director of Facilities is responsible for directing the design, planning, construction and maintenance of the university’s facilities and properties. This critical role oversees the functioning of all building systems including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, plumbing and waste management, as well as, capital improvements and all preventative maintenance. Additionally, as a project manager, the Sr. Director is responsible for developing and monitoring budgets and long-range facilities plans based on university needs and growth opportunities. Oversees and establishes collaborative relationships with contractors involved in facilities contracts and delivery of services. Ensures building services complies with federal, state and local laws and regulations and mitigates any risks to the university.
Qualifictions:Bachelor’s degree. Minimum of 8 years facilities experience including two years of supervisory experience. Experienced knowledge of best practices in physical plant operations, maintenance and repair, planning, scheduling, management and administration. Understanding of building design, construction, and maintenance as needed to maintain or ensure maintenance of equipment, buildings, and other parts of the university’s facilities. Knowledge of relevant federal, state and local laws and regulations. Experience developing cost estimates, annual budgets, and long-term financial plans. Ability to prioritize and manage/delegate multiple tasks and projects to ensure each is completed to standard/expectation and in a timely manner. Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely in presenting ideas and concepts both in verbal and written form. Strong interpersonal skills that facilitate effective relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the public. Proven success in project management of large-scale projects. Proficiency in a Windows computing environment. This position is subject to extended hours and emergency call back. Must possess and maintain a current valid driver’s license as a condition of employment, and must also be able to successfully pass any driver background information investigation and any driver education courses required by Risk Management. Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. Must be able to navigate all facilities in all types of weather.
