Description: Tidewater Inc. is currently seeking 2 Full Time Employees to join our Western Facilities Maintenance team to support our expanding portfolio of active and federal projects/contracts.
We are seeking one (1) FTE in/near the San Jose, CA area and one (1) FTE in/near the South Los Angeles/North Orange County area.
Responsibilities:
Maintaining and repairing all types of HVAC systems and associated components, facility operations through the monitoring and repair of various mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, equipment, and controls. The HVAC Lead performs the skilled journey-level work required to install, modify, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain air conditioning equipment and systems & preventive and predictive maintenance on required systems and trains junior personnel on their maintenance and mechanical processes.
The Lead organizes work by studying work orders, diagrams, specifications, drawings, and blueprints; gathering required materials; tests and repairs systems by operating the systems; identifying malfunctions; repairing or replacing sealants, parts, and components. The Lead will also recommend necessary spare inventory parts for emergency repairs and must also be able and willing to provide general preventative maintenance and trouble call support for non-HVAC components and could include plumbing, electrical, and carpentry requirements as well as other building systems/assets.
The HVAC Lead ensures that the department and personnel are complying with OSHA and EPA guidelines and works directly with compliance agencies and works with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing subcontractors to gather quotes for repairs and capital projects and works with vendors to ensure all materials are sourced appropriately and on time for scheduled use.
Additionally, the HVAC Lead will be expected to support the training and guidance of entry level employees to support a general understanding of HVAC principles.
Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform all the essential duties of the position satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Must reside within 30-45 minutes from the referenced area
• Must have adequate computer, smartphone/tablet, and communication skills.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs., climb/work from ladders, and walk up/downstairs with tools/parts.
• 10+ years experience in HVAC repair, maintenance, installation
• Must be able to work cohesively with vendors, subcontractors, team-members
• Comfortable with performing minor construction, electrical, and plumbing tasks if required.
• Must be dependable and reliable.
• Sound technical judgement and decision making skills.
*Must be able to successfully complete mandatory drug screening, safe driving record, credit report check, and full criminal background (including offender registries). May be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance, including successfully completing a thorough background investigation.
Education:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience working on commercial heating/air conditioning/refrigeration systems and controls. Requires the ability to read blueprints and apply basic math. The HVAC technician must understand local electrical and HVAC codes and have a strong general mechanical aptitude. The HVAC technician must have communication/documentation skills, conceptual skills, attention to detail, and impeccable dependability as verified through references. Each complete year of an accredited college education in a related field, including vocational schooling (with an HVAC specialty), may be substituted for the equivalent number of years of required experience.
Licenses, Certification, Registrations and Other Qualifications:
• Required: Must maintain a valid state driver’s license.
• Required: Must hold an EPA Section 608 approved certificate of training (Universal) to handle refrigerants.
• Desired: Possess and maintain a Master HVAC or Journeyman Level license by the state in which they work.
• Desired: OSHA 10-hr or 30-hr General Industry or Construction Safety Awareness.
• Desired: CPR/First Aid.
